Ellen Harvey, in her A Whitney for the Whitney brochure: "The space of art as being the space of obsession, of nonrational choices." "Obsession is in a way about a lack of choice...a processs that mimics the way I think being an artist just is. There is something beautiful to me about someone undertaking this question because they just decided to....How far can one go?" (10, italics mine)
Obviously not as eloquent in words, Harvey interestingly defines art as the process of obsession, nonrationality, and mimicry.
